Overview

This in-person and interactive course is designed to build RN skills and confidence in interpreting emergent cardiac dysrhythmias and managing advanced nursing interventions. This course will utilize case studies, simulations, and debriefing to reinforce early recognition of atrial, AV blocks, junctional, ventricular, and paced dysrhythmias. By the end of the course, nurses will demonstrate proficiency in caring for patients on telemetry with dysrhythmias to prevent adverse events from delays in care.

While the focus will be on high-level ECG interpretation, some staff may benefit from a refresher on basic concepts. Participants interested in enhancing their understanding of basic ECG rhythm interpretation are encouraged to enroll in this module on HealthStream. This comprehensive course will deepen, reinforce, and assess their knowledge and skills in cardiac care, helping them achieve personal and accreditation goals while earning continuing education credits.

Learners are encouraged to explore the modules in the HealthStream catalog titled Stanford Medicine: imPulse 4.0 Level III: Basic ECG Rhythms and/or level IV: Advanced ECG rhythms. Nurses can earn credit for completing these courses, which are applicable for certification (e.g., ANCC).

ANCC Learning Outcomes
  1. Identify how to provide appropriate nursing management for cardiac dysrhythmias.
  2. Describe how implicit bias may impact a patient assessment on telemetry monitoring
