ED Talks 2025

Stanford Adult Emergency Department proudly presents the fifth annual ED Talks, a specialized educational series designed for Emergency Department (ED) Registered Nurses. This year’s program brings together expert-led discussions on critical and evolving topics in emergency medicine, including neurology, respiratory failure, cardiac emergencies, and ECMO/CV Code management. Participants will explore the nuanced presentations of cerebral artery strokes, differentiate types of respiratory failure, and refine their preparedness for CV codes and ECMO management. The course also delves into key cardiac conditions, equipping nurses with current, actionable knowledge for the fast-paced ED environment. By the end of this session, participants will self-report an increase knowledge in recognizing, assessing, and managing complex neurological, respiratory, cardiac, and critical care emergencies in the adult ED setting.

1. State an increase knowledge in recognizing, assessing, and managing complex neurological, respiratory, cardiac, and critical care emergencies in the adult ED setting.
2. Describe how unconscious assumptions may impact the care provided to stroke patients, through misinterpretation of stroke symptoms, and at least one strategy for reducing biases.
