Overview

This intense 2-day acute care review course is intended for nurses who are planning to take the AACN-PCCN certification exam. The lectures and time allotment are based on the PCCN exam blueprint and will cover all body systems, physiology, pathophysiology, assessment strategies and treatment options for medical and surgical acutely ill patients. This course will benefit those who have step-down and telemetry experience and want a clinical update and review of latest best practice and those who have studied and want a final review prior to taking the PCCN certification exam. This seminar is not intended as a basic progressive care course and is recommended for nurses with at least one year of step-down experience.

This will be a livestreamed course only.


ANCC Learning Outcomes
  1. Identify common cardiovascular pathologies seen in patients.
  2. Discuss the neurological assessment associated with a stroke.
  3. Describe common renal and electrolyte disturbances.
  4. Explain the psychosocial needs for patients with behavioral pathologies.
  5. Recognize the ethical practice for the nurse and how biases affect decisions in patient care.
