Overview

This lecture will provide a comprehensive overview of the most common congenital ear deformities in infants and their clinical features. By the conclusion of this session, Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) will be able to acknowledge the potential impact and consequences of implicit bias when evaluating an infant with a congenital ear deformity, including how cultural, socioeconomic, and aesthetic perceptions may influence treatment recommendations or parental decision-making.

65% of participants will self-report that they are equipped with the knowledge on how to identify the most common congenital ear deformities and provide education to parents and caregivers.

Learning Objectives


  1. Describe most common congenital ear deformities in infants and their clinical features.
  2. Discuss the evidence-based timing, technique, and expected outcomes of nonsurgical ear molding interventions and how to educate parents and caregivers.
  3. Recognize the potential impact and consequences of implicit bias when evaluating an infant who presents with a congenital ear deformity.
