Moving Through Conflict With Effective Communication Tools

Employees may experience violence in their workplace, yet they are not always equipped with the knowledge, skills or tools to transform the situation into a healthy environment. In this educational session, attendees will learn about the types of violence that may occur in the workplace and techniques which can be use when faced with such situations. The session will provide practical ways for healthcare providers on how to move through conflict using effective communication tools. The program is geared towards all healthcare providers in all specialties. By the end of the class, participants will self-report a gain in knowledge and skills of effective communication tools which can be applied when navigating through conflict in the healthcare environment.

1. Identify workplace violence situations and apply mitigation and prevention techniques.
2. Discuss therapeutic communication tools effectively when encountering conflict.
3. Explain how to increase self-awareness to prevent care influenced by implicit bias.
