Overview

The Stanford Health Care Center for Advance Practice and the Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Conference Committee are proud to offer the 14th annual APP conference designed to review evidence-based practice updates on a variety of topics in acute and ambulatory care. This conference will explore current diagnostic evaluation tools, updated guidelines, and treatment strategies that are relevant to healthcare providers in the acute and ambulatory care settings. 


ANCC Learning Outcomes

Overall Outcome: 

Participants will self-report an increase in knowledge of recently released data on various health conditions and will identify strategies to use in practice based on current guidelines.

Learning Objectives: 


  1. Recognize Beer's Criteria guidelines to assess fall risk
  2. Discuss differences among surgical options for chest, facial, and genital gender-affirming procedures based on patient goals and clinical indications
  3. Discuss the value of an APP in an organization/practice
  4. Discuss key management strategies for severe hypoxemia in ARDS, including lung-protective ventilation
  5. Discuss common treatment options with coccidiomycosis
  6. Discuss the ESI score’s benefit in standard of ED practice;
  7. Discuss diagnosis and distinguish between different causes of adrenal insufficiency
  8. Describe the process of standardized clinical pathway development
  9. Describe where drugs work in the pain pathway
  10. Discuss cancer risk factors as pertain to lifestyle choices including diet and exercise
  11. Recognize how implicit bias may influence preoperative decision-making and patient outcomes.
  12. Identify infectious from non-infectious causes of chronic dysuria
  13. Identify risk factors that increase risk of cardiovascular disease in women as early as the reproductive years
  14. Recognize and mitigate implicit bias in strength and functional assessment, using objective measures to support equitable evaluation and management across patient populations.
  15. Describe current metabolic monitoring guidelines for patients prescribed antipsychotics and the shared responsibility of both primary care and psychiatric nurse practitioners in screening patients prescribed these medications
  16. Describe the concept of the Superwoman Schema and its psychological impact on women’s mental health
  17. Identify common practice settings and organizations where Advanced Practice Providers work in austere environments, including search and rescue, disaster response, military, and wilderness medicine programs
  18. Describe the clinical presentation and pathophysiology of refractory gastroparesis
