Overview

The Stanford Health Care Advanced Practice Provider (APP) teams from Inpatient Medicine and Oncology are proud to present the 2026 APP Medicine Bootcamp, an education day focused on the care of acutely ill medical patients. This conference highlights evidence-based practices for common acute care diagnoses and provides practical strategies for effective patient management. At the conclusion of this activity, participants will increase their knowledge of evidence-based care and recognize best practice strategies relevant to their clinical settings.

Learning Outcome

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will increase their knowledge of evidence-based management and care of acutely ill adult patients and recognize best practice strategies relevant to their acute care setting. 

Learning Objectives


  1. Discuss medication regimens for the treatment of drug-susceptible and drug-resistant tuberculosis according to current guideline recommendations.
  2. Discuss what to order in a malignancy workup
  3. Identify appropriate preoperative cardiac testing based on current guidelines for patients undergoing non-cardiac surgery.
  4. Recognize how implicit bias (e.g., related to age, race, gender, or socioeconomic status) may influence perioperative cardiac risk assessment and describe at least one strategy to mitigate its impact in clinical decision-making.
  5. Identify evaluation of AKI in native kidneys vs AKI in transplanted kidneys
  6. State a practical framework for evaluating generative AI outputs using the lens of verification burden
  7. Describe evidence-based medicine to common infectious diseases scenarios
  8. Identify acute decompensated heart failure, low cardiac output state and cardiogenic shock based on patient clinical data.
