Overview
This course will cover the signs and symptoms of occult trauma and abuse in the pediatric population, as well as approaches to diagnostic evaluation; it will also include the potential impact and consequences of implicit bias when evaluating a patient who presents with signs and symptoms suspicion for child abuse. Following this course, attendees will be able to recognize signs and symptoms of abuse, order the appropriate diagnostic workup and understand the biomechanics and anatomy of fractures and abdominal trauma.


Objectives
  1. Self report they are able to apply the knowledge learned in today's session to practice.
  2. Discuss how the Advanced Practice Provider role contributes to better patient outcomes.
  3. Describe how implicit bias may impact a patient assessment and discuss strategies that can be used by the provider to minimize their effect in the clinical setting.
