Overview

This 2-day intense acute care review course is intended for nurses who are planning to take the AACN-PCCN certification exam. The lectures and time allotment are based on the PCCN exam blueprint and will cover all body systems, physiology, pathophysiology, assessment strategies and treatment options for medical and surgical acutely ill patients. This course will benefit those who have step-down and telemetry experience and want a clinical update and review of latest best practice and those who have studied and want a final review prior to taking the PCCN certification exam. This seminar is not intended as a basic progressive care course and is recommended for nurses with at least one year of step-down experience.

**For the session, you will need a computer and internet access to view the meeting. Instructions on how to login will be emailed upon registration.


ANCC Learning Outcomes
  1. Identify common cardiovascular pathologies seen in patients.
  2. Describe how implicit bias may impact the nursing characteristics of response to diversity, patient advocacy and facilitator of learning and discuss strategies that can be used to minimize their effect in the clinical setting.
  3. Discuss the neurological assessment associated with a stroke.
  4. Describe common renal and electrolyte disturbances.
  5. Explain the psychosocial needs of a patient with a mental illness.
  6. Indicate what signs and symptoms are associated with shock and sepsis.
  7. Describe common sign and symptoms of endocrine disorders.
  8. Identify assessment of a patient with anemia and coagulopathies disorders.
