Overview

Exclusive to Stanford Health Care & Stanford's Children Health Employees.

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Center for Education & Professional Development (CEPD) and SHC IDHE LatinX ERG are hosting a Professional Development Series highlighting communication strategies for healthcare professionals with LatinX patients. Historically, providers familiar with the LatinX and biomedical culture are known to have stronger patient-provider relationships resulting in increased adherence to treatment, improved patient satisfaction, and better health outcomes.

**For the session, you will need a computer and internet access to view the meeting. Instructions on how to login will be emailed upon registration.


ANCC Learning Outcomes
  1. Discuss cultural competencies as they relate to the Hispanic/LatinX population to help create enhanced experiences of both patient and SHC employees
  2. Identify fundamental LatinX values
  3. Recognize common unconscious (implicit) biases in the healthcare setting related to the Hispanic/LatinX community
  4. Understand how to address a cultural issue when it arises
  5. Discuss how to initiate a consultation with a Stanford Medical Interpreter
