Overview

This online interactive course will review the foundational principles of mentoring and what a successful mentoring relationship looks like. The course will provide the learner with tools to use when mentoring and on how to apply them to create a healthy mentoring relationship. By the end of the session, the learner will gain knowledge in mentoring, communication and relationship etiquette which can be applied to a relationship with a Mentor or Mentee. This module includes an activity workbook to enhance the learning experience and should be downloaded at the start of the online course. The target audience includes any person who is interested in becoming a Mentor or Mentee.

It is recommended to complete this module in one sitting as the system will not track your progress if you logout. 


ANCC Learning Outcomes

65% of participants will report an intent to integrate knowledge gained from this module into a mentoring relationship.

Learning Objectives


  1. Identify the roles and responsibilities of a Mentor and of a Mentee in a mentoring relationship.
  2. Discuss unintended biases and how they may contribute to an unhealthy mentoring partnership.
  3. Describe key communication skills which can be applied to a mentoring relationship.
