Recognizing and Treating Peripheral Artery Disease and Venous Insufficiency

This course is designed for healthcare professionals to expand their knowledge of vascular disorders including peripheral arterial and venous diseases. It provides an introductory review of the etiology, risk factors, assessment, treatment and nursing interventions related to peripheral arterial disease and venous insufficiency. This course will also help the learner differentiate between peripheral arterial and venous disease, along with recognizing when patients may have a combination of both.

You are required to watch at least 75% of the video, pass the post-test, and complete the Evaluation to attain a CE Certificate.  The passing score is 90%. There are 3 attempts for the post-test.

1. Discuss how peripheral arterial disease and venous insufficiency differ
2. Identify risk factors that contribute to peripheral artery disease and venous disease
3. Verbalize testing and assessment tools to confirm diagnosis
4. list treatments currently being used for peripheral arterial disease and venous disease
5. Discuss nursing interventions to prevent further worsening of disease or prevention of disease
6. Describe how implicit bias may impact a patient assessment and discuss strategies that can be used by the provider to minimize its effect in the clinical setting
