Overview

This course will provide essential elements and practices for research studies. Topics in this session will include: Where to start with the literature review process, with a high-level overview of resources at Lane Library for research. How to effectively interpret research articles and determine if the articles provide good evidence to support the clinical question. How to use a PICO question and measure research outcomes. How to capture data, regulatory requirements, and data management. How ethical, responsible research conduct and regulatory compliance are required to protect human research participants. Discuss successful research study examples. By the end of the session, the attendee will have gained knowledge about how to begin the research process. The target audience for this course includes all level healthcare providers who want to learn more about the process of completing a research study and resources available.

**This will be a live virtual event.
For the session, you will need a computer and internet access to view the meeting.
Instructions on how to login will be emailed to all registrants a week prior to the date of the session.


ANCC Learning Outcomes
  1. Describe the basics of literature review and resources available.
  2. Analyze strengths and limitations of quantitative and qualitative research designs
  3. Critically read and appraise information in published research articles
  4. Design a PICO question from a clinical problem
  5. Explain how to collect and store data and protect research participants.
  6. Discuss key human participant research ethics, compliance, and conduct concepts and requirements.
  7. Examine how systematic and unintended biases in research may contribute to health care disparities
