Learning Objectives:

  2. Recognize the disparities and challenges faced by African Americans in relation to social determinants of health and how these contribute to higher rates of type 2 diabetes.
  3. Discuss strategies and interventions to increase awareness and promote health equity in the context of type 2 diabetes among African Americans.
  4. Identify the role of community engagement, accessible healthcare, policy advocacy, and health education in addressing social determinants of health and reducing health disparities in African American communities affected by type 2 diabetes.
