Overview
This webinar will present a nurse-led initiative designed to identify and address barriers to equitable enrollment and participation in clinical trials within the Stanford Health Care inpatient setting. At the conclusion of this presentation, the participant will be able to: 1. Explain the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in clinical trials research, and describe how implicit bias contributes to the underrepresentation of diverse populations in clinical trial participation. 2. Identify nurse-led strategies and collaborative interventions to raise awareness among Principal Investigators and research staff about barriers to equitable clinical trial enrollment and participation, with a particular focus on addressing language access gaps. 3. List methods to integrate equity-focused practices into institutional research processes, aiming to enhance clinical trial participation among historically marginalized populations.

ANCC Learning Outcomes

65% of participants will report an intent to change practice when implementing strategies to increase diversity in clinical trial populations.

Learning Objectives:


  1. Explain the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in clinical trials research, and describe how implicit bias contributes to the underrepresentation of diverse populations in clinical trial participation.
