Overview

This webinar will present two speakers who will focus on their Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) projects and reflect on how the DNP experience has enhanced their work as nurse leaders.

Dr. Lindsay Thomas, DNP, C-CNS, will present on "From Project to Practice: Lessons in Nursing Leadership and Multidisciplinary QI derived from an Interventional Cardiology DNP project on Contrast-Associated Acute Kidney Injury", highlighting the effectiveness of a targeted educational intervention as a model for improving clinician knowledge and behavior in specialized practice areas.

Dr. J'Adore Larosa-Mattis, DNP, PRN, FNP-BC, FNYAM, FADLN, will present on, "Optimizing Social Determinants of Health (SDoH) Screening - Improving Nurse Utilization of the EMR-Integrated SDoH Navigator", highlighting the impact of nurse education on optimizing SDoH screening through an EMR-integrated navigator to improve care coordination, mitigate implicit bias, and enhance outcomes for underserved populations.

ANCC Learning Outcomes

65% of participants will self-report an increase in knowledge of how earning a DNP supports nursing leadership and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Describe the effectiveness of a targeted educational intervention as a model for improving clinician knowledge and behavior in specialized practice areas.
  2. Recognize how implicit bias in provider risk perception may contribute to disparities in preventative care for high-risk patient populations.
  3. Reflect on the role of the DNP-prepared nurse leader in spearheading multidisciplinary quality improvement projects that bridge the gap between clinical guidelines and frontline practice.
  4. Identify how DNP project findings can be used to advocate for institutional change, specifically by aligning clinical outcomes with the Quadruple Aim.
  5. Describe the role of Social Determinants of Health (SDoH) screening in improving health equity and patient outcomes among hospitalized patients, particularly in underserved populations.
  6. State the impact of nurse education on increasing utilization of the integrated SDoH Navigator within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), using pre- and post-intervention screening data.
  7. Identify evidence-based strategies to incorporate routine SDoH screening into inpatient nursing practice, while recognizing and mitigating implicit bias to enhance interdisciplinary referrals, care coordination, and patient-centered care.
