Overview

This 1-hour course is designed for the Registered Nurse or Advanced Practice Provider who is interested in a more comprehensive understanding of cutaneous toxicity related to cancer therapy. Topics in this session include cutaneous side effects and dermatologic treatment options. By the end of the course, learners will increase their knowledge about dermatologic treatment modalities.

Learners will self-report a gain in knowledge about dermatologic treatment modalities related to cancer treatment side effects.

Learning Objectives


  1. Identify common cutaneous side effects of chemotherapy and targeted cancer therapies.
  2. Provide examples of initial treatment recommendations for cutaneous toxicities caused by chemotherapy or biotherapies.
  3. Recognize when referral to specialist (cutaneous oncology and supportive dermatology) is indicated
  4. Recognize own implicit bias related to personal appearance and use open-ended questions to explore patient priorities
