Overview

This 2 -day course is designed to provide a comprehensive update of cardiac implantable electronic device (CEID) therapy including pacemakers, ICDS, and cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT). The agenda will include didactic lectures, case scenarios, and hands-on sessions with vendors.

Day 1 is targeted for staff Nurses – telemetry units, intensive care, emergency department, cardiac cath lab, operating room and Day 2 is targeted for a more advanced learner to include device specialists who care for patients regularly that have CEIDs and are involved in device management– APPs, device techs, radiology techs.  The content for either day will be applicable to those individuals preparing for the IBHRE exam

  1. Describe indication for implantable electronic cardiac devices and their hemodynamic implications
  2. Discuss how to optimize the clinical care of hospitalized patients with devices
  3. Identify the potential effects of electromagnetic interference (EMI) on implantable devices
