This course is an introduction to the field of research, designed to empower learners with the knowledge and skills needed to plan, design, and execute research studies. Participants will learn about the essential steps involved in initiating the research process. This course is tailored for healthcare providers at all levels seeking to enhance their understanding of the research process. Upon completion, participants will: 1) Learn how to conduct comprehensive literature searches using resources available at Lane Library. 2) Develop the ability to formulate well-structured research aims. 3) Gain insight into different research designs, including quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods. 4) Acquire an understanding of ethical principles, regulatory compliance, and guidance for protecting human research participants. Join us for a transformative journey that promises to empower you with the tools to elevate your research knowledge and skills to new heights.

  1. Formulate focused research questions and purpose
  2. Examine how implicit biases affects the research process
  3. Demonstrate how to do literature search using electronic databases at Lane Library
